Coconut oil serves to lose weight, regulate cholesterol, diabetes, improve the heart system and even immunity. To make virgin coconut oil at home, which despite being more laborious is cheaper and of high quality, just follow the recipe:
- 3 glasses of coconut water
- 2 brown bark coconuts cut into pieces
Mix all ingredients in a blender. Then strain the mixture and place the liquid part in a bottle, in a dark environment, for 48 hours. After this period, leave the bottle in a cool environment, without light or sun, at an average temperature of 25ºC for another 6 hours.
After this time the bottle must be placed in the refrigerator, standing, for another 3 hours. The coconut oil will solidify and, to remove it, you must cut the plastic bottle on the line where the water has separated from the oil, using only the oil, which must be transferred to another container with a lid.
The coconut oil will be ready to be used when it becomes liquid, at a temperature above 27ºC. It does not need to be kept in the refrigerator and has a shelf life of 2 years.
